  • Do I need a car?
Unless you plan on taking day trips, it is not necessary to rent a car. End to end, the town of Tamarindo is about 5 blocks long. Pueblo Colonial is about 3 blocks to the beach and 3 blocks to the middle of town. If you do decide to rent a car, there are multiple car rental agencies in Tamarindo as well as near the major airports in Liberia and San Jose. Other options in Tamarindo include renting a motorcycle, golf cart, or four-wheeler.
  • What airport is closest?
Costa Rica has two international airports: one in San Jose (SJO), about 4 to 6 hours from Tamarindo, and Liberia (LIR), which is about an hour away. There are charter flights from these airports directly to Tamarindo.
  • How do I get to Pueblo Colonial from the airport?
Pueblo Colonial recommends to use the transportation services offered by Happy Trips Costa Rica, a private and reliable tourism transportation van company that offers the service from Liberia Airport (LIR) to Pueblo Colonial for USD $85 (price based on 4 people or less). For 4 to 6 people add USD $10 (Capacity 6 people) and from San José Airport (SJO) to Pueblo Colonial USD $260 (price based on 4 people or less). For 4 to 6 people add USD $10. If you need transportation from the airport or to any other places, please feel free to contact them directly to their email: info@happytripscostarica.com or by phone to +506 8989-7676. A shared transportation option can also be reserved, which is a shared shuttle service running several times a day from Tamarindo to the Airports (could include stops along the way).
  • What is the weather like in Tamarindo?
There are two seasons in Tamarindo, the dry season and the green season. The dry season is true to its name, as most days are sunny and tropical from sun up to sun down. During the green season, rain will often move in and out, offering a different side of this beautiful environment. The temperature stays relatively steady at 30 degrees Celsius (plus or minus 3 degrees) throughout the year.
  • Is there someone at Pueblo Colonial to meet me when I arrive?
As long as there is a minimum of 48 hours communication prior to your arrival at Pueblo Colonial, the property manager will be there when you arrive. When you check in, we will provide you with the entry codes to your room and the security gates around the property. Upon your arrival, we will also provide you with a welcome booklet that includes the property rules, a Tamarindo map, and a guest information sheet to be filled out and returned to the PCM within 24 hours of arrival. The guest information sheet is to help me familiarize us with the individual renters and to keep records of occupancy for each individual villa. If you owe a balance of any amount to the PCM, only cash in American dollars or Costa Rican Colones will be accepted. Payment is due upon check in. The PCM will walk you through the villa in order to go over the details of the villa and to help familiarize the guests with the different features of the villa and property.
  • What clothes should I bring?
We have laundry facilities, so you could get away with a couple changes of clothes and flip flops. For evening attire, cocktail casual is the common fashion. Certainly no pants or jackets required, though they do help protect the skin from mosquitos in the green season.
  • Is there an ATM nearby?
Yes. Banco Nacional is just a block away from Pueblo Colonial and offers outdoor ATMs with colones and USD.
